Welcome to the Technology Applications Home Page

Welcome to my Home Page for the Technology Applications classes at White Deer High School. The main purpose of all these classes is to provide a foundation in today’s computer technology so students can move comfortably into the workforce and higher education.  It depends on the classes being taken what software and what objectives will be covered but with the increase of technology we want the students to have a broad foundation of skills.

BCIS1 Class -- Business Computer Applications 1 is the first foundations course that students should take.  We will cover the use and functions of MSWord a word processing program, Excel a spreadsheet program, Access a database or record keeping program that is becoming widely popular, and PowerPoint which is presentation software.  If time allows we will cover the very beginnings of Web Design.  Students will have the opportunity to use the Internet for research purposes.  A solid background from this class is invaluable, especially if the students plan to take Dual Credit computers with AC as a Jr. or Sr. which gives them 7 college credit hours.

Multi-Media Class – This is a course designed for students to learn the different types of media used in today’s business world.  This class will be designing the teacher’s web pages in the new High School Web Page and helping me with the new High School web site.  They will learn the use of scanners, cameras, video editing and other types of software as well as web page design.

Dual Credit is a class taken online with a teacher from Amarillo College, this class allows students to earn 7 college credit hours during the year.  I am the facilitator for this class; which means I help them when they need it and keep them on schedule.
