Athlete of the Week Honor Roll

Boys

 

  • Deron Forman, Palo Duro Basketball: The senior post scored a total of 38 points in a victory against Fort Worth Wyatt and a defeat to Fort Worth Southwest in the Class 4A Region I tournament.

     

  • Thomas Rapstine, White Deer Basketball: In a 49-36 victory in the Region I-1A Division I tournament against Smyer, the junior scored a game-high 15 points.

     

  • Ryan Schwab, Friona Track: At the Friona meet, the senior collected gold in the long jump and triple jump with distances of 20 feet, 3¼ inches and 40-7, respectively.

     

  • Tanner Dyson, Pampa Soccer: The Harvester senior forward scored four goals and had an assist in his team's 6-1 victory against Borger, which pushed Pampa into a third-place tie with the Bulldogs in District 3-4A.

     

  • Jordan Kinnear, Randall Basketball: In a Region I-4A semifinal loss to Fort Worth Southwest, the senior scored a team-high 20 points.

     

  • Darren McCaslin, Tulia Track: The junior took home gold in the 110-meter hurdles (15.93) and the 300 hurdles (43.55) at the Friona meet.

     

  • Melvin Baker, Palo Duro Basketball: At the Region I-4A tournament, the senior scored 39 points, including 24 in the loss to Fort Worth Southwest.

     

  • Dillon Welch, Friona Track: At the Friona meet, the senior captured first in the shot put and the discus with tosses of 42 feet, 6¾ inches and 158-2, respectively.

     

  • Fredo Chavez, Palo Duro Soccer: The junior scored twice and assisted on two goals in a 6-1 victory against Canyon that kept the Dons in the hunt for first place in District 3-4A.

     

  • Stryker Pena, Samnorwood Track: At the Highland Park meet, the senior placed first in the triple jump (42 feet, 6 inches) and the long jump (23-2).

     

  • Luis Garcia, Canadian Track: Earned the gold in the 300-meter hurdles at the Sunray Relays with a time of 41.08, helping the Wildcats win a team title.

    Girls

     

  • Breena Maul, Tascosa Wrestling: The sophomore won the 148-pound title at the state tournament in Austin by beating Shelby Fellers of Waller.

     

  • Shelbi Woods, Follett Basketball: At the state tournament, the junior scored 36 points, including 26 in a semifinal win against Roby, to help the Lady Panthers nab the Class 1A Division II state title.

     

  • Kayla Mercado, Hereford Track: At the Friona meet, Mercado earned gold in the 1,600 meters (6:00.99) and the 3,200 meters (12:52).

     

  • Krystin Bustos, Caprock soccer: The Lady Longhorns forward scored four goals - half of her team's total - in a victory against Palo Duro to keep Caprock in second place in District 3-4A.

     

  • Katie Chapman, Tulia Track: Captured first place at the Friona meet with a time of 18.08 in the 100-meter hurdles.

     

  • Brittani Blau, Follett Basketball: The guard capped her senior season with 27 points against Kennard in the 71-51 Class 1A Division II state championship victory.

     

  • Kenzie Westerby, Amarillo High Soccer: The junior keeper had a big week, shutting out co-leader Lubbock Coronado in between a pair of shootout victories.

     

  • Desta Franks, Hereford Track: Won gold in the 800 meters at the Friona meet with a time of 2:37.46.

     

  • Brittany Rappe, Borger Soccer: Scored two first-half goals for the Lady Bulldogs in a 4-1 District 3-4A victory against Pampa.

     

  • Lindsey Ferguson, Sunray Track: Helped her team capture first place at the Sunray Relays by winning gold in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.31.
